The Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu (SPArKS) is excited to present a live music production of Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, featuring live dancers and pre-recorded footage.

Carnival of the Animals – Kota Kinabalu, brings a musical forest to life through Saint-Saëns’ beloved suite, performed by top musicians from Malaysia and Singapore. Follow Luna, a curious child, as she discovers a magical world where animals sing, dance, and play—perfect for children, parents, and visiting tourists.

This family-friendly concert follows the story of Luna, a curious girl who wanders into a magical musical forest. Guided by a whimsical Narrator, she discovers that each animal in the forest has a unique musical voice—brought to life through Saint-Saëns’ famous suite, Carnival of the Animals. The show features 14 charming movements, performed by an elite ensemble of musicians from Malaysia and Singapore.

1. What is Carnival of the Animals?

Carnival of the Animals is a live, family-friendly theatre experience featuring a 16-piece orchestra, two grand pianos, captivating storytelling, and dancers who bring each animal to life. A musical and theatrical feast for all ages!

2. Are there multiple showtimes?

Yes! There will be three performances:

Friday at 8:00 PM
Saturday at 2:00 PM
Saturday at 8:00 PM

🕗 Please arrive at least 45 minutes before showtime for check-in, seating, and to enjoy the pre-show activities.

3. Is there anything happening before the show?

Yes! Enjoy a lively pre-show ‘carnival’ at the ticketing area, open before each performance. Activities include:
🎨 Colouring books for sale
🍿 Food and drinks (available outside the theatre only)
🧒 Children’s games and activities
🛍️ Merchandise booths🌟 This carnival supports SPCA KK – please stop by their booth to make a donation and help support local animal welfare initiatives.

4. Is the show suitable for young children? Can I bring my toddler or baby?

🧒Carnival of the Animals is suitable for children aged 3 years and above. If you wish to bring a child under 3 years, you do not need to purchase a ticket for them, provided they remain seated on a parent or guardian’s lap for the entire performance.

🎻 Please note that we follow standard theatre etiquette to ensure an enjoyable experience for all audience members. If a child becomes distressed or causes a significant distraction, you may be kindly asked to step out of the theatre.

5. How long is the performance?

The full show runs 75–90 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission.

6. What are the theatre rules?

Assigned Seating: Please sit in the seat shown on your ticket.
No food or drinks inside the theatre (only water is allowed).
📵 Phones must be silenced, and no recording or photography is allowed.
🚪 Minimal movement during the performance—ushers will guide you if you need to exit for any reason.

7. Where do I buy tickets?

⚠️ All ticket sales are final – no refunds or exchanges.

8. Is the show suitable for families?

Absolutely! The production is designed to be both educational and entertaining for all ages. Children should be at least 3 years old and able to stay quietly seated during the show.

9. What if I need to leave during the show?

If there’s an emergency or need to step out, ushers will assist you discreetly. Re-entry may be restricted until an appropriate break in the performance.

10. Will there be food, drinks, or merchandise available?

Yes! These are available at the pre-show carnival outside the theatre.

11. Can I change my ticket after purchase?

Sorry, we practice a no refund policy. You may sell your tickets to your friends on your own and we truly appreciate your understanding and support.

12. Where can I collect my ticket?

Tickets are to be collected from the 10-16 October 2025 (Friday – Thursday) at the following places:
1. IEC, Sunny Garden (9:00AM – 5:00PM) – Closed on Sunday – LOCATION
2. Legato Music, Likas Square (11:00AM – 7:00PM) – Closed on Thursday – LOCATION

Proof of purchase is required during ticket collection. Please make sure to present your EMAIL CONFIRMATION during collection. You may collect your tickets on the EVENT DAY but we recommend collecting them in advance to skip the queues and enjoy a smoother entry.

13. Are there any discounts?

YES! If you’re a SPArKS member, you enjoy a 10% discount off your ticket. The joining fee is RM20 and RM10 annually to renew.
